The ingredients needed to prepare Baked Chakali:
  1. Get 4 cup rice
  2. Provide 2 cup chana dal(split Bengal gram)
  3. Prepare 3/4 cup urad dal (split black gram)
  4. Take 1/2 cup poha (medium)
  5. Take 1/4 cup sago
  6. Provide 4 tbsp coriander seeds
  7. You need 2 Tbsp cumin seeds
  8. You need 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  9. You need 1 tsp chilli powder
  10. Get 1/2 tsp Sesame seeds
  11. Take 1/2 tsp Ajwain (carom seeds)
  12. Take to taste Salt
  13. Prepare as needed Oil
Instructions to make Baked Chakali:
  1. For bhajani : Wash rice, chana dal, urad dal separately. Drain water and spread on muslin cloth for half an hour. Dry roast rice, chana dal, urad dal separately till it's dry. It should not turn red.
  2. Now roast sago and poha For two minutes. Roast coriander and cumin seeds. Spread all the roasted ingredients in a plate. Let it cool down completely.
  3. Grind all the ingredients. Your bhajani is ready.
  4. Take 1 cup bhajani in a bowl. Add turmeric, chilli powder, ajwain, sesame seeds, salt.
  5. Take 1 cup water add 1 tbsp oil and heat it till small balls start appearing. Add bhajani to this. Mix properly and switch off the gas. Cover it. And keep for half and hour.
  6. Now knead it to soft dough. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Put one portion of dough into Chakali press and press out round swirls of the dough into a greased baking tray. Working closely from the centre to outside of the swirls
  7. Bake all the chakalis in a preheated oven at 180° c for 15 minutes., turn them over and bake them again for 15-20 minutes. Cool completely and store in an airtight container. Use as required.
